WHO’S HÉCTOR?

Our Origin Story

It all started on a warm morning in San Diego…

California hits different. Bright lights, blue skies, beach vibes — sure, it’s great.
But let’s be honest… we were there for the tacos.

Cali took Mexican food and made it louder, bolder, fresher, hotter. Forget the sun — this is what Norway’s been missing.

Trondheim knows good food. Trondheim knows how to party.
But a place that does both? Nah. Not yet.
So we made it happen.

In October 2020, Héctor came to life — born from a deep love of Cali-Mex flavor and fiesta vibes.

We brought the tacos. Then came the balcony, the street-style al fresco eats, the yellow food truck, the DJs, the chaos, the cocktails, the late nights, the "I-can’t-believe-this-is-Trondheim" moments.

And guess what? We’re just getting started.

Stay tuned. It’s about to get even wilder.

It all began In Trondheim. With a dream of Tacos, Cocktails & Fiestas

Inspired by California & Mexico - Made in Norway

FAQ’s

  • Yes, we do accept drop-ins — but let’s be real… we fill up fast.
Evenings and weekends can get muy loco, so if you want to guarantee a seat (and avoid the heartbreak of walking past a full restaurant), we highly recommend booking a table.

Héctor on the Street and La Terraza are always drop-in only…
(Unless you’ve booked the whole thing for an event. Or we really, really like you.)

  • Yes… but here’s the deal:
Those spots are in high demand, and while we can’t promise you a table there, we’ll always do our best. Leave us a note when booking, and if we can make it happen — we will.

  • Got a big crew? We love that.
We’ve got plenty of options for larger groups and we’re always down for a proper fiesta — but our booking system only accepts reservations for up to 15 people automatically.

If you're planning for more than 15, check out our “Events” page or drop us an email at booking@hectormexican.no.

And just a heads-up: making multiple bookings to fit a bigger group might mean you won’t be seated together — and no one wants that. Reach out, and we’ll help you plan it right.

  • Of course! We love embarrassing our guests with some fireworks, a sombrero and a song! But these don’t happen without your consent. So, come and speak to us in service and we will be happy to fix something together. Go ahead and make a request… but nothing boring though… that’s no bueno.

  • Yes, you will find our changing facilities in our bathroom and we have plenty of highchairs if you want to bring a team of bebés.

  • Yes we do. You can find our entrance on the ground floor. However, access to our bathrooms and second floor is restricted due to our lift not being suitable for big wheelchairs.

  • Yes, we cater for most food preferences and intolerances. But watch out…we use a lot of coriander!

  • Yes! Don't be afraid, give us a call. We don’t bite…but we might try to hug you for ordering directly and not through F**dO*a or W**t.

  • Yes. Solsiden shopping centre has parking 7 days a week right behind the restaurant. There is space for your bike out the front and the river is just a short hop away if you’re arriving by inflatable flamingo.

  • Depends…Sometimes yes, sometimes no. We try to keep open as many days as possible and the standard answer is Si. But sometimes the good people of Trondheim collectively decide “Today we head to the mountains”... and when they do that, we might make a late decision to close and have a siesta. So, check back closer to the time and stop nagging us!

  • Yes but… they are only allowed “on the street”, in our outside eating area. We have little food/water bowls all ready for them too so they can dine “al fresco”. So, bring a cat or bring a dog and you will make our day. Bring a bird though and you will be immediately escorted out for being loco.

  • Yes! See below…

    Is it nutritional? Si.

    Does it have calories? Si.

  • Héctor Héctor, Taco Perfector. A Mexican man with a heart full of Trondheim and a belly full of queso. Who fell in love with Trondheim and is doing his best to make Trondheim fall in love with him.
